“A large part of the film ‘Remains of the Day’ was filmed at Dyrham House. I couldn’t resist going along to have a look. Apart from getting a telling off from the Director for wandering around on the grass bank you can see in the back ground, it was a very enjoyable day. The film starred Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson, and included in this scene the horses and riders of the local Beaufort Hunt. During this period I was painting a picture in the tack room at Badminton House stables. On one of these days the door flew open and in rushed actor Christopher Reeve. During his break in filming he had been out riding. It’s not everyday you get to talk painting with Superman.” Jack Russell MBE
