The Field Marshals

£250.00

High definition Giclee print measuring 12″ x 19″

“I was commissioned by the Army Benevolent Fund to paint the ten Field Marshals of the British Army. A dinner was held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea to commemorate the ending of the rank. There would be no more appointments and these were the last ten alive. I managed to capture the moment they all gathered before going into dinner in the Great Hall. To complete the painting I had the pleasure of visiting each Field Marshal for a personal sitting to paint a colour note of their face. It included an afternoon at St James’ Palace to paint HRH the Duke of Kent, and a few hours at Buckingham Palace to paint HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, but that’s another story.” Jack Russell MBE
