Ashes Series Glory 2005

Oil on canvas measuring 24″ x 36″

“During the last Test Match of the 2005 Series I painted this picture at the Oval high up on the terrace of the new stand at the Vauxhall End of the ground. I was lucky enough to witness an amazing, very tense last day as the Ashes hung in the balance. England had to survive the day and as Pietersen walks off in the late afternoon light to a standing ovation for a brilliant century, we all new at this point that the Ashes had returned home for the first time in 16 years! It was a relief to us all, especially me, as I was in the England team that lost them at Old Trafford in 1989!” Jack Russell MBE
