For all you Sherlock Holmes fans,  Foxtor Mire near Princetown is believed to be the inspiration for the famous “Grimpen Mire” discovered by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle while travelling around Dartmoor researching his famous novel “The Hound of the Baskervilles” with his good friend Bertram Fletcher Robinson.
